The tradition of Eight Bells pays respect to deceased mariners and signifies that a sailor's “watch” is over. The practice dates back to the days of the sailing ships, when sailors relied on the ringing of the ship's bell to tell time. The ship’s bell is rung every two hours, 2 bells at two hours, four bells at four hours, 6 bells at six hours, and finally 8 bells signifying the End Of Watch.
The Grace Club’s own Reverand David Therlow can lead a Christian service to honor your loved one in a beautiful peaceful, very private and serene setting of the inland waters of Calabogy Sound and the May River aboard the historic motoryacht Grace.

Crossing the Bar
Alfred, Lord Tennyson (1809-1892)
Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;
For tho’ from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.
