Ways to Support Grace

Why Grace Matters

Grace is more than a beautiful yacht — she is a living piece of maritime history.

  • A historic wooden motor yacht built before World War I
  • A beloved symbol of the May River and Palmetto Bluff
  • A platform for community gatherings, education, and celebration
  • A rare historic vessel still operating under US Coast Guard certification

Preserving a wooden yacht of this age requires constant care, skilled craftsmanship, and ongoing investment.

Your support helps ensure that this extraordinary vessel remains in Palmetto Bluff and on the May River, where she belongs.

Our Mission

The Grace Club exists to protect and preserve the historic yacht Grace while sharing her story with the community.

Our mission includes:

  • Maintaining and restoring the historic yacht Grace
  • Keeping her operational on the May River
  • Supporting educational and cultural experiences on the water–especially for underprivileged children and young mariners of all levels
  • Preserving an irreplaceable piece of maritime history

As Grace’s steward, The Grace Club is honored to care for this extraordinary vessel and ensure her legacy continues.

A Community Effort

Grace’s return to the water was made possible by the generosity of 45 Palmetto Bluff families working in partnership with South Street Partners, who helped fund the restoration needed to return her to service.

Thanks to their leadership, Grace once again sails the May River for the enjoyment of residents and visitors alike.

Now we invite others who value history, preservation, and community to help secure her future.

From Membership to Mission

The Grace Club recently received approval as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, allowing us to focus fully on our preservation mission.

With this transition, we have moved from a traditional membership structure to a benefactor model that reflects the true purpose of the organization: safeguarding Grace for the long term.

Your support is now:

  • Tax-deductible, subject to applicable law
  • Eligible for Donor Advised Fund contributions
  • Dedicated to the long-term preservation of Grace

Whether you were previously a Grace Club member or are discovering Grace for the first time, we invite you to join us as a benefactor.

Why Your Support Matters

Maintaining a historic wooden yacht is both an art and a responsibility.

Grace requires continuous care, including:

  • Hull and structural maintenance
  • Woodworking and restoration
  • Paint, varnish, and canvas work
  • Mechanical upkeep and safety systems

Without ongoing preservation efforts, vessels like Grace simply cannot survive.

Your contribution ensures that this historic yacht remains a living treasure of the May River and the Lowcountry.

Become a Benefactor

Every contribution helps preserve Grace and keep her sailing on the May River.
Your generosity supports the stewardship of one of America’s most remarkable surviving historic yachts.
Together, we can ensure that Grace continues to inspire future generations.
