Grace's Logbook - Welcome
Logbook: A Record of the Past, Present, and Future

A logbook is more than just a journal—it is the official record of a vessel’s journey. Unlike personal recollections or informal diaries, a ship’s logbook meticulously documented details essential to navigation, ship condition, and noteworthy events. Traditionally maintained by the first mate and reviewed by the captain, the logbook served as a crucial reference for owners, insurers, and legal authorities alike.
Welcome to Grace's Logbook
In that spirit, Grace’s Logbook serves as an official record of the vintage motor yacht Grace. This chronicle will capture not only her present journey—detailing the painstaking reconstruction that is bringing her back to life—but also her storied past and future endeavors. Grace’s Logbook will include:
- Reconstruction Updates: Documenting the ongoing restoration efforts, craftsmanship, and challenges involved in preserving Grace’s legacy.
- Historical Accounts: Stories from Grace’s long history, including her many owners, significant events, and the eras she has weathered.
- Stories & Personal Recollections: Anecdotes, legends, and firsthand memories from those who have known and loved Grace over the decades.
- Future Voyages & Events: A look ahead to Grace’s upcoming appearances, journeys, and gatherings that will continue her legacy.
Grace’s Logbook will be maintained by Grace’s historian, Gray Stahlman, MD, and will serve as the continuation of his biographical book, Grace Lives. Much like the traditional logbooks of old, this record will not only help preserve the details of her voyage but will also offer insight into the life of a vessel that has stood the test of time. Through these entries, we invite you to embark on this journey with Grace—honoring her past, celebrating her revival, and anticipating the adventures yet to come.
